The ECOWAS court has dismissed Dasuki’s court lawsuit against the Nigeria government

Sambo Dasuki, the former National Security Adviser, went to court to ask the Nigerian government to enforce a previous judgment in his favour. He claimed that his life was in danger and that he was under house arrest by armed operatives of the Department of State Services. The court ruled in Dasuki’s favour, declaring the government’s actions as arbitrary and unlawful.

They ordered his release and the return of his seized properties, as well as payment of damages. However, the Federal Government did not comply with the court’s judgment and refused to enforce it. Dasuki then filed another application for the court to enforce the judgment.

During the trial, the government denied Dasuki’s allegations and argued that the properties being claimed were subjects of ongoing criminal proceedings. The court, in its judgment today, dismissed the application for enforcement, stating that it lacked jurisdiction to enforce the earlier judgment.

Dasuki sought the court’s intervention to enforce a judgment in his favour, but the government failed to comply. The court ruled in Dasuki’s favour, but in the recent application for enforcement, the court dismissed it, stating it lacked jurisdiction. This is an ongoing legal battle between Dasuki and the Nigerian government.

“We will put an end to hotels accommodating underage girls” The Minister for Women Affairs in Nigeria declares

The Minister of Women Affairs in Nigeria, Barr Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye

The Minister of Women Affairs in Nigeria, Barr Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye, expressed her concern about the recent rescue of the teen Nigerian girls who were allegedly trafficked to Ghana for prostitution and announced some actions to combat this issue. Starting from Monday, there will be a ban on lodging young girls in hotels, and hoteliers will be required to display a “No Lodging of Underage Girls” sign outside their facilities

In addition to addressing trafficking, Minister Kennedy-Ohaneye also instructed school proprietors to take action against bullying, whether it’s done by teachers or students. She emphasized that Nigeria must improve and mentioned that action will be taken immediately. She mentioned that the Ministry of Women Affairs will announce their plans on Monday to tackle these issues.

According to Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, the girls were lured from Nigeria to Ghana by an unidentified man who has been arrested in a neighbouring West African country. Fortunately, the girls were rescued by the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), an association for Nigerians living in Ghana. In a viral video, a NIDO official expressed their relief at rescuing these innocent Nigerian children from a terrible situation.

The video highlighted the exploitation these girls faced, as they were forced into prostitution against their will. The NIDO official mentioned that the perpetrators would collect money from these vulnerable children. It’s truly heartbreaking to see such injustice happening.

Overall, the Minister of Women Affairs is taking action to combat trafficking and bullying in Nigeria. The rescue of the girls in Ghana sheds light on the urgent need to address these issues and protect our young ones. Let’s hope that these measures will make a positive impact and create a safer environment for everyone.
