Vibe Nation - Stop the Violence was made with assistance from the Community Broadcasting Foundation Ltd. Hours of footage was created by working with a multitude of countries who all had common themes to address during their journey of relocation in Perth Western Australia.

Free-to-air television series made by Community Television with the local WA community

Australia now understands that Africans are not violent people and that they are victims of circumstances, victims of relocation and victims of cultural shock. Our community and organization was able to understand the differences in culture and traditional values of various African Tribes living in Perth Western Australia. It enlightened the community about what drives Africans and how to involve various community leaders in mapping a way to assist with the transition into Perth Western Australia.

Production of a television programme that archives the history and experiences of people from a different cultural background
arriving in a new land.

Australia now understands that Africans are not violent people and that they are victims of circumstances, victims of relocation and victims of cultural shock.

The various community leaders were excited about the programme because it portrays Africans in a negative and positive way which is normal for humanity to have a good side and a bad side. The communities were very happy to be captured on film and broadcast back onto free to air television. They commented how often the community is overlooked and with this project Africans were the focal point which gave the groups a sense of
belonging and strength. Every community involved was happy to be a part of this programme which is exhibited by the smiles on their face throughout the production of
the programme.

African way

The programme was able to assist the African people to understand the importance of the Australian values and
how they can incorporate the African way of life with the Australian values.

Outlook by Youth

This project was able to stabilize the outlook by youth and leaders enabling the Africans to understand the importance of their culture and tradition and the importance of taking part in cultural activities which will make them shy away from committing crimes. The programme was able to shed light on the rich culture of the Africans and the problems they are facing through relocation.

Every community involved was happy to be a part of this
programme which is exhibited by the smiles on their face throughout the production of the programme.

We wanted to show the African people living in Perth how stereotypical violence and negative labelling with a broad brush approach has portrayed them as a violent race. This project was able to stabilize the outlook by youth and leaders enabling the Africans to understand the importance of their culture and tradition and the importance of taking part in cultural activities which will make them shy away from committing crimes. The programme was able to shed light on the rich culture of the Africans and the problems they are facing through relocation. The programme was able to assist the African people to understand the importance of the Australian values and how they can incorporate the African way of life with the Australian values so as to actively stop any violence perpetrated by frustrated youth in the City of Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne.

People from multicultural backgrounds often feel like they are not well represented in the media and they look forward to seeing people like them who are prospering in the society and featured in the media. Vibe Nation Stop the Violence highlights the positive impact of our mentors, our
leaders and our community members. We give our viewers the direct opportunity to relate to their own potential.
