COMMUNITY FORUM ORGANISATION DONATES PRIMARY SCHOOL MATERIALS

Lack of books and desks are among some of the major factors that affect the quality of education for nearly all the primary schools in Chikwawa District. This was disclosed after the youth led Community Forum Organisation (COFO) offered opportunity training sessions to 7 teachers and 228 books were distributed.

Headmaster of Mantchombe Primary School, Mr. Phillip Salle who attended the training, thanked COFO at the end and said that this was a great opportunity for them as teachers, to have been equipped with new teaching skills emphasizing that the newly acquired methodology of teaching, will make their work easier as they are now in line with the new syllabus enabling the performance of the students to greatly improve.

Coordinating Primary Education Advisor (CPEA), under the Chikwawa Education Office, Mr. Harry Chisaka, praised the Organisation for the initiative, remarking that it was made at the right time, as they also are in the process of finding good ways to improve the performance of the students in their district.

Chisaka continued by saying, that his Office will be monitoring and supervising the school to make sure that the skills which the teachers have gained, will be properly used, so as to achieve the intended project goals, hence, asking COFO to include other schools in the district so that they can also benefit.

Responding to the matter, COFO Executive Director Joshua Malunga said, they do have a passion of extending the project to other schools, once it starts bearing fruit; he then pledged with other non-governmental organisations who are also implementing education project in the district to join COFO, and extend the project to other schools.

Mantchombe Primary School has an enrollment of 811 students of which 341 are girls and 470 are boys.
