Egypt suffered casualty in Rafah offensive as dispute between Israeli troops and Egyptian military resulted in the loss of an Egyptian soldier.
The military of both countries are investigating the cause of the incident. Egypt-Israel relations have become sore lately due to the Rafah incursion which Egypt has warned against.
Egypt have acted as mediator to bring the war to an end but both parties have failed to reach agreement. Israeli military occupy the Gaza side of Rafah border while Egyptian soldiers mount the Egyptian side as tensions continue to rise between the two. Either side has to be in caution to avoid spark of war between the two countries.
Egypt is the first Arab country to sign pact with Israel and they’ve been good partners until now.

RUTO FACES CRITICISM FOR CHOOSING PRIVATE JET OVER NATIONAL AIRLINE
The Kenyan President, William Ruto has come under immense pressure for traveling on private jet rather than national airline.
The African leader recently travelled to visit Joe Biden which is the first of any African president in 15 years. He was able to secure deals worth billions of dollars with the United States which will help Kenya grow their economy rapidly.
Mr Ruto triggered castigation when he made a remark that flying a jet for his trip is cheaper than using the national airline. Critics consider the statement unpatriotic. Countrymen believe his trip would have been a global opportunity to market Kenyan airlines rather than spending tax payer’s money on private jet.
“It is a shame as a country if the president can’t use our national Airlines, Kenya Airways, because it is expensive” said Alinur Mohamed on X.
Since the president was elected in 2022, he has made more than 50 trips abroad which raises eyebrows. However, the government has come to his defence, stating the trips are necessary.

SOUTH AFRICAN YOUTH ENCOURAGED TO HOLD THEIR GROUND IN THE GENERAL ELECTION
South Africa’s social media influencers have being acting as political mobilisers urging the youth to vote on mass in this week general election.
Reports reveal 42% of registered voters are under the age of 40, this implies the younger generation could be a major decider in Wednesday’s election. A TikTok creator, Karabo Mahapa who has over 350,000 followers, suspends his usual content to rally the youth to vote on mass. Although, he didn’t make a party choice for his followers, he only gave insights on the importance of voting.
A larger percentage of the youth are tired of the ANC, a party that have been alleged with corruption and mismanagement. The intention to vote out the party is the new song in South Africa. This may see ANC lose outright majority in parliament for the first time in 1994.
In South Africa, social media activity has gone beyond marketing of products, it is now a platform for political debate and promotion of ideas.

KANO EMIRATE TUSSLE: BAYERO AND SANUSI LOCK HORNS
It’s been a chaotic tussle of power between former CBN Governor, Lamido Sanusi and Aminu Ado Bayero for the past few days.
It all began when the government sacked five emirs in the state including Aminu Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano. Then, the government reinstated Lamido Sanusi, who was deposed in 2020 as the Emir of Kano by the then governor.
This has stirred riot among the residents of Kano, especially the supporters of Ado Bayero. Protesters were blocking major roads, demanding for the return of Bayero to the palace.
Shortly after Lamido has occupied the palace of Kano emirate, Bayero arrived with heavy security moving towards the palace. This could not have ended well if not for the intervention of the court.
Consequently, Aminu Ado Bayero have been ordered by the court to leave the palace with immediate effect and also vacate the residence of emir where he stays in Nasarawa.
