Marc Brys’s first win put Cameroon in pole position for The World Cup

First game, first win for Marc Brys as Cameroon tops world cup qualifying group after beating Cape Verde 4-1.

The Belgian appointment in April had exposed the conflict between FECAFOOT and Ministry of Sports in Cameroon. But, that does not affect the momentum by any means with the host country securing three emphatic points against their opponent.

The former African champion moved into full gear with Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui opening the score line with a header in the 13th minute. Aboubakar doubled the lead in the 25th minute and Montero got 1 back for Cape Verde in the37th minute. Aboubakar slotted in from the spot for his brace in 44th minute before the half time. Nouhou put the game beyond reach with the fourth goal in the 54th minute of the game.

André Onana Onana saved a late penalty in the game to retain the score line as Cameroon moves to share top spot with Libya in the log. The winner of the group will automatically qualify for the next World Cup.
