SHARMA URGES ALBANESE TO DISMISS IRANIAN AMBASSADOR OVER ISRAEL COMMENTS
Iran’s ambassador to Australia, Ahmad Sadeghi, is under fire from Australian lawmakers after labelling Israel’s recent airstrike on Iran a “terrorist attack.” Former ambassador to Israel, Dave Sharma, urged the Albanese government to expel Sadeghi following his comments.
Israel’s military conducted extensive airstrikes targeting missile facilities near Tehran and other locations in western Iran, issuing warnings against retaliation. The strikes also extended to Iraq and Syria, focusing on Iranian proxies, resulting in the reported deaths of four Iranian soldiers.
This incident marks the first time Israel has officially claimed responsibility for an attack on Iran, which supports groups like Hezbollah and Hamas. In response, Sadeghi condemned the airstrikes on social media, calling them a “terrorist act” and a breach of Iran’s sovereignty.
He described the strikes as an act of aggression by Israel and emphasised the loss of four Iranian soldiers during the confrontation with the attacking forces. Senator Sharma criticised Sadeghi, suggesting he is intent on inciting conflict and tension.

JEWISH LEADERS SUE ISLAMIC PREACHER WISSAM HADDAD IN COURT
Jewish leaders in Australia have launched a legal case in Federal Court against Islamic preacher Wissam Haddad, also referred to as Abu Ousayd, following accusations of making anti-Semitic statements. The Executive Council of Australian Jewry (ECAJ) announced this move against Haddad and the Al Madina Dawah Centre for speeches made last year, where he described Jewish people as “vile” and “treacherous” and propagated an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.
ECAJ’s co-CEO Peter Wertheim and Deputy President Robert Goot are seeking a declaration that Haddad violated section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act, which prohibits offending or humiliating individuals based on race or ethnicity. They are also requesting that the speeches be removed from the internet and that Haddad and the centre be restrained from publishing similar content in the future.
Additionally, the Jewish leaders want a corrective notice published on the social media pages of Al Madina Dawah Centre and are pursuing an order for costs. Wertheim stated that the ECAJ’s legal action followed an unsuccessful attempt to resolve the issue through the Australian Human Rights Commission, emphasising the need to protect the community’s honour and deter further racist mobilization.
He highlighted the importance of Australia’s multi-faith and multicultural society, asserting that it should not be marred by the prejudices and hatreds stemming from overseas conflicts.

A woman who disappeared in Australia’s Snowy Mountains has been found following a considerable search and rescue operation. Lovisa Sjoberg, a photographer, suffered a snake bite while lost in the remote area and required treatment at the site before being transported to the hospital.
