This move is part of the government’s commitment to tackling insecurity in the state. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Col. Ahmed Usman (retd.), made this announcement during a press briefing in Sokoto.

In addition to the vehicles, the state government has plans to distribute 1,000 motorcycles to the community guard corps. The establishment of the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps began with 13 local government areas, including Binji, Gada, Goronyo, Gudu Gwadabawa, Illela, Isa, Kebbe, Rabbah, Sabon Birni, Tangaza, Tureta, and Wurno.

The government has also made other notable achievements in the past year. They purchased and distributed 72 vehicles, including Toyota Hilux and Buffalo, to various security agencies to enhance security control in the state. Additionally, the government ensured prompt payment of logistics support to security agencies, leading to the successful rescue of over 250 individuals from bandits.

The administration has taken action against illicit activities, conducting raids on places involved in drug trafficking and other forms of criminal activities. The Nigerian Air Force has also provided aerial surveillance to address security concerns in the state.

However, the Special Adviser emphasised that the current administration has only completed a quarter of its security program.
