NIGER ASKS US TROOPS TO LEAVE

The US military base built in Agadez, Niger is under evacuation due to the agreement between US and Niger. Since the seizure of power by Omar Tchiani in July 2023, Niger has switched allegiance to Russia for security support. Persistent insecurity situation was cited as the main reason for military takeover.

The multibillion dollar military base was built to combat armed groups affiliated to Al-Qaeda and ISIS in the Sahel region which also includes Burkina Faso and Mali. The three western African countries recently undergo military regime and have turned to Russia for support. Ibrahim Traore , Assimi Golta and Omar Tchiani overthrew the government in Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger respectively and they’ve being hailed by African nationals for their bravery and courage. Despite the condemnation by International organisations and Western super power, they strongly joined force together and remain RESOLUTE.

Currently, the official time frame for the withdrawal has not been announced publicly but definitely, it was reported that US troops of about 1000 soldiers are set to leave Niger. Reports emanating from Niger confirmed citizens have been protesting for US withdrawal of their troops and the evacuation seemed long due. Niger has already announced earlier this year that the military agreement with US remain suspended and withdrawal of its soldiers remain imminent. You’ll recall that, Omar Tchiani had slammed France President Macron, for political interference in Niger government through luring of ex-President, Bazoum as their puppet .

Russia is highly committed to strengthen the defense of the three African nations with the world super power announcing earlier this month to have sent them military trainers, air defense system and other military equipment.
