“S.O.S * * Attacks with firearms are presented at meeting points from private vehicles – Cali * Today * May 07, 2021 * between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. It is reported at the meeting points of the La Luna Sector, Paso del Comercio and Puerto Resistencia, the passage of private vehicles, which indiscriminately attack those who are in concentration. Senator Alexander López and Human Rights Defender Berenice Celeita, who was accompanied by Peace Brigades International when the events took place, were at the Paso del Comercio Point. From the Meeting Point of the Moon, the Human Rights Defender Magaly Pino, reports that people armed in civilian clothing are firing indiscriminately and have cornered the Humanitarian mission composed of more than 10 human rights defenders. This situation leaves several injured people (Among them José David Murcia Cabrera – Food Engineering Student at Univalle) and 3 people killed. It is reported that one of the identified vehicles is a private white car which has traveled the areas of Portada al Mar, La Luna, Paso del Comercio and Siloé. We hold the Colombian State responsible for the war treatment that it has been giving to the social mobilization exercises within the framework of the National Strike, and we demand that the pertinent investigations be carried out that lead to the clarification of these facts that constitute serious violations of human rights and threaten directly against the lives of the people who are in the meeting points. Sources report 31 deaths in 8 days as underage children, teenagers and students from universities and high schools resist the current governments ultra right wing. After 50 years, it is claimed politics goes against civilians which plans to eliminate the middle working class.

The Colombian people face constant issues of poverty, social inequality, lack of education, a poor health system, corruption and massacres.

During the pandemic, people have struggled for food and say the government helped banks and big companies.

Sources report the government rules by fear to control the population and that the Aldo government has breached the peace agreement with the insurgents despite already having signed the peace process.

The people have reached a stage now where they have had enough and feel they must show the government they can’t put up with this oppression any longer. This is the worst conflict to date as the people continue to resist as a way to show they are not scared anymore.

Videos sent in from the protests show young people and students being killed and badly hurt. Students keep sending out live videos as they are fearful of the current government. The claims are that the police, ESMAD and paramilitar as directed by the government are killing the youth. Cali city has been resisting a lot and have taken the heaviest life tolls.

The president does not want to talk with the protest organizers as it has been declared in a state of terrorism.

In Cali, the government is cutting the power at night and as special police forces enter the neighborhood resulting in civilian deaths.

It is claimed the government is trying to block information by cutting off the internet at night so youth cannot post live videos.
