Ademola Lookman scored a stunning hat-trick in the Europa league final to end Leverkusen fairy tale at Dublin yesterday.
The Nigerian opened the score line in the 12th minute from a Zappacosta low cross before scoring a golazoo to put the Italian side two goals ahead. The former Everton player put the game beyond reach with a powerful left foot drive to condemn Leverkusen to their first defeat in an impressive season.
The odds favoured Leverkusen to go all the way but Atlanta had another game plan thanks to Gia Piero Gasperini’s excellent tactics. Atalanta went ahead to lift the UEFA Europa League title after 61 year trophy drought.
The win also guarantees Atalanta a spot in the next Champions League which is not certain through the Series A.
