ARSENAL GUNNING FOR PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE

The English Premier League is arguably the most lucrative league in the world. It enjoys massive follower-ship globally which tempt many athletes to move over. Its broadcasting right and huge wages/salaries is highly inviting and it has produced world class players such as David Beckham, Frank Lampard, Stephen Gerald, Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Kevin De Bryne, just to mention a few.

On February 20^th 1992, the league was named English Premier League and since then, few clubs have been able to successfully lift the trophy. Here are the clubs with most Premier League titles;

1.         Manchester United – 13 titles

2.         Manchester City – 7 titles

3.         Chelsea -5 titles

4.         Arsenal – 3 titles

5.         Liverpool – 1 title

It has been total dominance from Manchester City in the last decade. They are out-rightly the most successful English team for the last ten years. With Pep Guordiola as the Gaffer, you cannot expect less success. Meanwhile, they face fierce challenge this season from Arsenal and Liverpool, making it a three horse race. Arsenal is currently leading the park with 77 points, Liverpool 74 points and Manchester City 73 points with two outstanding matches.

Arsenal appear very determined this season after crucial reinforcement at the beginning of the season. The introduction of Declan Rice, Havertz and Jorginho brought needed experience the side has been lacking in the past. After their exit at the Champions league, they focus on the league title and it is looking likely. They made a strong statement on Tuesday by handing Chelsea 5-0 defeat. The title hope may be over for Liverpool, Everton handed them a shocking 2-0 defeat.

Could this be Arsenal’s season after long awaited years?  Will Manchester City falter and lose their ground in the title race? The few matches left will certainly clear our doubt.
