With ‘Making a Better World for the Girl Child’ as its motto; Change for Girls and Women is a youth led organisation which is based in the Eastern Region of Malawi, Zomba. The dream of running this organisation started many years ago but it’s visible operations on the ground started in June this year. The organisation is made up of seven members as full working staff.
According to the Project Coordinator McDonald Malinje, the main purpose of the organisation is to provide information on good health issues, education opportunities and rights; provide school fees and basic needs for a girl child to succeed and to end Gender Based Violence.
He continued by saying that the mission of the organisation is to empower girls and women in quality education, hygiene issues, equal opportunities and rights awareness.
McDonald also said that since they do not have any financial backing to support all the organisations activities, members are requested to contribute whatever they can in order to support the needy girls from different communities in the country and he appealed with the well-wishers to join but also partner with them so that they should work together to reach out to as many girls in the coming planned events.
Since it started carrying out its activities, the organisation has managed to visit two primary schools namely Thabwani primary school in Zomba and Magwero primary school in Lilongwe districts respectively.
End.
